Holiday Pay

Sun Health is a 24/7 365-day business, therefore employees from certain departments are required to work during holidays. Sun Health’s observed holidays are:

  • New Year’s Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving
  • Christmas Day

Holiday pay is scheduled to begin at 10:00 pm the night prior and end at 9:59 pm the day of the observed holiday. Non-essential employees and employees who work in departments that are closed on holidays will need to use available accrued PTO hours to offset the reduced schedule. Management’s discretion determines essential and non-essential staff for the holiday schedule.

Non-exempt employees scheduled to work on a recognized holiday will be paid one and one-half times their regular pay. Employees not scheduled to work will be required to use Paid Time Off (PTO). It is at management’s discretion to determine which employees will be scheduled.

Employees who desire to observe any national or religious holiday by having the day off must submit a time off request through the time clock or Kronos Workforce Ready. Time off requests are granted at the discretion of business needs.
